Engineering Track – Rotational Development Program

 
Opportunities within the Black Duck Rotational Development Program (RDP) are salaried full-time positions that offer recent college graduates the opportunity to rotate through a range of departments, where they will acquire a wide-ranging set of experiences and deep understanding of Black Duck’s products and customers. The Technical Track is a total of 18 months and consists of 3 rotations that are 6 months long with each department – Software Engineering, QA Engineering, and Technical Support/Implementation.
 
After successful completion of the program, Engineering Rotational Development Associates will have the opportunity to join a team permanently where they can continue to apply their acquired knowledge and experience as they progress along their career path.

Start Date: June 12, 2017
 
Requirements:
  • Must be in the graduating class of 2017 (prior graduates will not be considered)
  • BS/BA Degree in Computer Science/Engineering or related field
  • A highly proactive and independent spirit, ability to drive your initiatives with minimal guidance and input
  • Excellent communication skills and willingness to interact with other groups in the organization
  • Previous programming experience with any modern, object oriented and/or dynamic language like Java, Python, Ruby
 
Software Engineering
  • Participate in collaboratively building our product, which involves product specification, design, development, and system integration
  • Conduct new technology research and analysis of open source components; bring fresh ideas and concepts to bear on product development
  • Serve as an individual contributor in an agile team
  • Technical Languages and Frameworks: Java, Python, or Ruby programming languages, PostgreSQL and Hadoop, as well as front-end work to visualize/review data involving Django, JQuery, and Javascript
 
QA Engineering
  • Participate in collaboratively building our test infrastructure, which involves designing and developing tests in a Linux/Windows environment to execute enterprise product testing with Java and Web technologies
  • Define and implement API based regression and performance tests (Java/Soap/Rest)
  • Create/Maintain test plans and test cases for Black Duck Software products
  • Work closely with engineering in early product phases to facilitate Black Duck’s agile development methodology
  • UNIX/Windows and shell programming skills (Ant, Bash, Perl, Batch scripting, etc.)
 
Support/Implementation
  • Research requests from customers to add content to our Open Source knowledgebase
  • Create registration keys and customer letters for new customers and renewals
  • Work with staff to enhance and add online technical content to our Customer Support portal 
  • Assist with customer communications including technical product announcements, shipping media, and upgrade recommendations
  • Enhance customer satisfaction by timely responses, consistent communications, satisfactorily resolving each case and prompt escalation to support management when needed
  • Assist Implementation Consultants in business analysis/pre-sales activities including technical validation and scoping/estimation
  • Complete audit of the Implementation Processes and Project Documentation Repository
